White Horse Dressage

I established White Horse Dressage as an expression of my belief in the art of classical riding and the importance of riders developing a sense of trust and respect for their horses.

At White Horse Dressage, I train horses and riders of all levels. Every client can expect that their lessons and training are foremost among my priorities, as I only accept a limited number of horses and riders for training.

Unlike a riding school where training starts and stops with individual lessons, White Horse Dressage is devoted to the concept of continuing education through:

• Ongoing study of dressage principles in ever greater depth and detail.
• Interactive discussion between instructor and student regarding the challenges, problems and solutions for horse and rider.
• Regular and continuing instruction in riding skills including the importance of seat, position and application of the aids, as well as evaluating the horse’s response to training and its evolving needs.
• Participation in clinics and shows as appropriate for horse and rider goals, interest and abilities - or not.
• Recognition of the value of trail riding and other time spent outside the arena to build the respect and trust essential for a close relationship between horse and rider.
• Creating a community of riders who value and respect their relationships with their horses and their instructor, and the principles which guide their education.

Integral to its classical academic training program, White Horse Dressage offers longe-line lessons, theory classes and demonstrations so that clients benefit from not only the principles, but more importantly, the techniques of classical riding.

I believe in showing as a useful tool in evaluating the progress of training and as a demonstration of the modern relevance of classical principles, rather than a goal for competition only.

As interest continues to grow in the idea of academy-based, European-style riding schools in the United States, White Horse Dressage welcomes clients who are committed to developing their knowledge and proficiency in classical riding.
